First you have to import your video and audio to the Asset Bin. DVD-lab supports elementary Video and Audio streams and Program Streams.
You can drag and drop a video still from the Preview to menu or Image Asset.
DVD-lab has its own File Browser from where you can drag and drop files to Asset bin. You can also double click on the file to add it to Assets.
You can use video still frame as background when you drag the video frame from Preview window to menu and hold SHIFT key. Similarly you can use any image as background if you drag it from assets to menu and holding SHIFT.
The Group HotSpot is an invisible link. All objects behind HotSpot will behave as one button. Once you draw a hotspot over objects with a link, the HotSpot will pick-up the link from the objects.
If you drop a frame to any existing object it will be resized to fully accommodate the object.If the object has a Link to Movie or Menu, the frame will also get the link from the object.
You can easily change color of a Button or Video Still in menu by using the Fill Color Properties.
A DVD doesn't need to have a Menu. It could just start playing movie as you insert the DVD to the player.
You can slow scroll movie with keyboard arrows left and right. You can add chapter by pressing Space.
You can zoom the screen in Menu and Movie with the zoom buttons on the main toolbar.
You can quickly create chapters by using Auto-Chapter feature.
When designing menu you can use Snap to Grid. With the grid on, it is very easy to put thumbnails and objects on the same height.
DVD-lab allow you to place a transition between two menus.
You can use the Connection to easily add or delete Movies and Items, add clips and audio files to the Movie, backgrounds or buttons to the menu, edit transitions, rename objects...
You can rename the Items in Connections view by selecting the Item and Pressing F2 (or Rename from the Connection menu).
DVD-lab allows you to add a popular tools to the Tools menu for guick launch. Use the Customize in Tools menu.
You can exit from DVD-lab during compiling. In this case you will be prompted with a question whether to stop the Compile as well or leave it running and detach it from the closing application.
